Weekly Vials
My art is inspired by my chronic illness and disability, especially the immunodeficiency I was born with. This piece depicts the replacement antibodies, each dose derived from thousands of plasma donors around the world, with which I must inject myself each week in order to lead a semi-normal life. But it's also a paradox: my weak immune system forces me to stay isolated from other people much of the time, while I couldn't live without the medication that connects me intimately to so many other people. In this piece I tried to capture both the beauty of the light falling on these objects that are so essential to me as well as highlight the disposability of them.
