"Enlightened" was inspired by a photo that my niece had taken of her son some time ago. I happen to run across this old photo on my phone and was instantly struck by its subject and dramatic lighting. I had to paint it! (with permission). This piece is painted in Sennelier pastels, along with various brands of pastel pencils for detail work, on dark grey LaCarte pastel card.
