Wine Country Autumn
On a trip to Oregon Wine Country I took a reference photo of this scene leading to one of the wineries. My reference photo was washed out because of the brilliant sunlight and time of day but since I loved the scene I decided to paint it anyway. I chose to paint it with an Autumn color palette because I felt the scene lent itself to that and chose the time of day to be later in the afternoon so I would have cast shadows to add drama to the painting. So the painting is a combination of reference materials, memory and imagination.
