Piebald Placidity
Portrait of a friendly and gentle longhorn steer. Soft Pastel mounted on #400 grit Uart paper. This piebald longhorn quietly walked up to our car window when we stopped to gaze upon this magnificent animal. He was basking in the sun this summer day. After watching us from a distance, he gave us the gift of his up close presence. I really enjoyed the challenge of capturing his gentle gaze and markings that spilled across his body. The reds and golds against the background of "white" complimented the greens of the lush foliage and muted greens of late summer in the West.
