Celestial of Dance

I made this artwork for my BFA portfolio that I am pursuing at University of Alaska Fairbanks. I currently don't have a lot of money as many students, so I primarily use pastels that I have purchased off of amazon called Monte Marte. Im working towards purchasing a Blue Earth set to take my work to the next level. That being said this work is about a fictional character that I have created named the Celestial. The Celestials are beings of thought, this one being dance, and can take many different forms inside our reality. This depicts my character engaged in the art of dance and if that thought had a form. My process is quickly establishing an underpainting, composing of a hue shifted gradient that establishes my value areas. I then block in colors I wish to use and then finalize the image with Fiber-Castell pencils if applicable. I do all blending with fingers and sometimes paper towel.
