I was mesmerized by watching waves crash over this rock and wished to paint it. I used Uart 400 mounted on mat board. I first sketched in the rock, background water, and sand with pastels and used an alcohol wash for my underpainting. I then painted clear gesso on the rock and in the area of the foam. When dry, I applied various pastels.
