La Mirada. “The Glance”
I live in Mexico and celebrations are everywhere. At a parade for the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, performers and participants wound slowly through the square, stopping often for performances. The dancers were dressed in colorful costume. I raise my phone, and she looked toward me in the instant I snapped a photo, I smiled involuntarily, and she returned it, but I caught the first glance with the camera and it seemed an unguarded and powerful moment. I couldn’t help but capture it with pastel.
