That's Our Lunch Spot
Along the trail to Sawtooth Lake in Idaho's stunning Sawtooth Mountains, there is a .9 mile side trail that winds down to Alpine Lake, which lies within the arms of 9,800' Alpine Peak. I'm so glad we decided to take the trail! The sky was a brilliant blue, and we were dazzled by the sun reflecting off of the dusting of snow that had fallen the night before. We worked our way around the lake to that sunlit rocky area you see across the water in the painting. That was our lunch spot. Unforgettable! I painted this in various soft pastels on Hahnemühle Ingres Pastel paper, remembering the cold, the light and the massive mountains.
