The Light, The Land, The Landing

This one is part of the series of portraits of David in the fields. This series of paintings connects the man with the land. I spoke before of the fact that whenever I see David walking around those fields, I don't see him as being in the field, I see him as being an integral part of it, as if at this very moment, the field and the light couldn't exist without him there. This painting is filled with sunshine and bright strokes of colours. As a realist painter, I crave the shape and the details but I am most attracted and inspired by the formless essence underneath the physical layers. I love realism, but when I paint, I am on a search to recreate the abstraction of the feeling that was offered to me in a particular moment.
