This painting was inspired by the thistles I saw during my time in Scotland, a place that left me with a deep sense of serenity. I chose a monochromatic purple palette to reflect that calm, building on dark violet pastels to create depth and focusing on the middle ground to draw the eye. I love using texture in the sky with sweeping strokes, while keeping the foreground soft and suggestive. Pastels felt perfect for this piece—they allow me to capture vibrant colors and add a personal touch to every stroke.
