Baldwin Hosta

Took a photo at my 50th high school reunion of a plant bed near the school house. I was fascinated by the patterns in the shapes of the leaves. I did about 24 monoprints off of a carved wood block of the plant and decided to do a pastel of it also. I stuck with monochromatic colors because I wasn't interested in reproducing the plant,instead I was interested in the interplay of the shapes and the voids between the sections.
